ABOUT KINDCOATS
KIND COATS is a homeless coat exchange in the UK. It was set up in 2017 by Sarah Fletcher and Fay Sibley to help people in need stay warm at the coldest times of year.
There are over 4000 rough sleepers a night in England and many more families living in poverty. KIND COATS is a way for people to donate their unwanted coats to help those who need them. Fay first saw the idea a few years ago and set up a coat exchange in her hometown of Colchester. She saw a picture of a rail with a sign “Need one? Take one. Want to help? Leave one” and thought it was an idea that could really help her local community – starting with 12 coats the exchange quickly grew and saw 100’s of coats being donated over the winter months.
Since then record numbers of people from across the country have joined the KIND COATS campaign by donating and putting up rails in their own communities. As temperatures begin to drop, it's time to do it all again and we need your help!
